What is EMDR Intensive Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain process painful experiences so they no longer feel emotionally overwhelming. It supports deeper healing in less time.

Rather than only revisiting the past through conversation, EMDR helps your brain work through and resolve it.

An EMDR Intensive uses this highly effective approach in a concentrated, multi-day format, giving you the opportunity to:

  • Go deeper without frequent breaks or interruptions
  • Address the underlying causes — not just the visible symptoms
  • Create significant progress in a shorter period of time

This is not quick-fix therapy. It is intentional, supported, safe, and built for lasting change.

EMDR Intensive Therapy – Who is it for?

This program is a strong fit for individuals in Chicago and nearby areas (Evanston, Naperville, Arlington Heights, Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, and Beverly) who:

  • Feel emotionally stuck despite months or even years of therapy
  •  Struggle with anxiety, burnout, or constant overwhelm
  •  Appear high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted internally
  • Carry unresolved trauma from childhood, relationships, or loss
  •  Need meaningful progress in less time because of a demanding schedule

What You Can Expect?

Imagine starting your day without carrying the same emotional burden:

  • Less anxiety and fewer emotional triggers
  • Greater emotional balance and self-control
  •  Healthier, more connected relationships
  • A clearer mind and a stronger sense of calm

This is not just about managing symptoms — it is about healing the root of what has been keeping you stuck.

Many of our clients are professionals, entrepreneurs, and high achievers across Chicago who are used to managing everything on their own—until the emotional weight becomes too much to carry.

You don’t have to keep managing this on your own.

EMDR Intensive: Real Client Experiences

How Our EMDR Intensive Therapy Works

Your experience is structured, personalized, and guided every step of the way.

1. Pre-Intensive Interview

Your transformation starts with a dedicated 90-minute deep dive into your personal history. This consultation helps us clearly understand your experiences—from unprocessed trauma and anxiety to daily triggers, coping patterns, and emotional challenges. We’ll also look at your support systems and limiting beliefs so we can create a focused roadmap and set clear intentions for your EMDR Intensive.

2. Personalized Preparation

Preparation creates stronger breakthroughs. You’ll receive a personalized workbook designed specifically for your healing journey. This interactive resource helps you prepare mentally for treatment, track progress during the intensive, and continue applying what you’ve learned after the program ends—so your results remain lasting and sustainable.

3. Intensive Session

Our 2-to-5-day intensives provide a focused, immersive healing experience designed for deeper and faster results. Each day includes 4.5 hours of concentrated clinical work, allowing progress that traditional weekly therapy often takes months or years to achieve. Sessions are available in person at our Grand Rapids, Michigan office, through concierge services at your home in (Michigan, Texas, Illinois), Retreat home in Muskegon, MI, or virtually through a secure online platform. This accelerated approach is built to help resolve trauma and chronic pain while creating lasting emotional relief and peace.

4. Post-Intensive Integration

Healing continues after the intensive ends. You’ll complete your experience with a final 60-minute integration session with a certified EMDR therapist. Together, we’ll review your progress, process new insights, and strengthen the positive changes you’ve made. This final step helps you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional resilience.

How long will it take for the EMDR Intensive to show results?
EMDR Intensive is a highly individualized therapy, so results vary depending on factors such as the nature of your trauma, your personality, and your therapy goals. Many people begin to notice results after the first day, with the brain continuing to process for up to 72 hours after a session. While pronounced progress may take time, the effects of EMDR therapy are lasting and irreversible.
How is EMDR Intensive Therapy different from traditional therapy?
Unlike traditional weekly sessions, EMDR Intensive Therapy is an accelerated healing program. With 4.5-6 hour sessions, participants dive deep into their psychological healing without frequent interruptions. This immersive process limits the impact of daily stressors, enabling faster, more focused breakthroughs compared to traditional 1-hour weekly sessions. Think of it like surgery: You wouldn’t want your surgeon to pause midway through and say, “We’ll pick this up next week!” Our intensives give you the time needed for deep and uninterrupted healing.

Who is Ebony Crane, and why do clients choose to work with her?
I am Ebony Crane, LMSW, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and founder of Resilience Therapy and EMDR Empowerment Center. I provide EMDR therapy and trauma focused EMDR intensives for high achievers and the ones everyone turns to. The leaders. The caretakers. The people who hold a lot and rarely have space to set it down.

I work with clients in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas, both in person and virtual for EMDR intensives. Many of the people I work with are successful on the outside, yet feel overwhelmed, shut down, or disconnected on the inside. They are tired of feeling stuck. They want trauma therapy that helps them actually feel different, not just think differently.

My approach is direct, grounded, and emotionally safe. I am not here to simply talk in circles. In EMDR intensive trauma therapy, we get to the root of what your body remembers. We reprocess the experiences that shaped your behavioral patterns and your nervous system so you can feel relief that lasts.

People choose to work with me because they are ready for something that works. They want accelerated healing. They want to feel like themselves again. They want a therapist who understands the pressure of being the one everyone relies on and who can guide real change with clarity and compassion.

If you are ready to stop just coping and start healing, I am here. Let’s do the real work together.
