Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. Individuals who suffer from high emotions, impulsivity, and self-destructive habits might benefit from DBT. DBT also focuses on developing a therapeutic relationship and validating their experiences. However, it’s important to note that many individuals have had negative experiences with therapy.

Therefore, they must find a culturally responsive therapist who understands their community’s unique experiences and needs. DBT can also benefit individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder or other mental health conditions involving difficulties in emotion regulation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the connection between ideas, emotions, and behaviors. It is founded on the notion that unpleasant thoughts and feelings may lead to poor conduct and that individuals can alter their behavior by changing them.

CBT is an effective therapy for BIPOC individuals. It can help them identify and challenge negative thoughts and beliefs related to their experiences of discrimination or oppression. It can also help them develop coping strategies for stress and trauma.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, research backed therapy approach proven to help people heal from trauma faster and more completely. At Resilience Therapy and EMDR Empowerment Center, we specialize exclusively in EMDR Intensive programs. These are focused, multi day experiences designed for individuals who are ready to move beyond traditional talk therapy and create lasting change.

Our EMDR Intensives offer a structured, accelerated format that helps your brain process and release the emotional weight of past experiences such as sexual assault, physical assault, infidelity, grief and loss, car accidents, or house fires. Clients often describe this work as life changing. They finally feel clear, calm, and grounded after years of feeling stuck.

During your Intensive, you will engage in guided bilateral stimulation (BLS) through gentle eye movements, tactile pulsators, or musical tones. These tools activate your brain’s natural healing process and transform negative self beliefs into adaptive and empowering ones.

If you have tried therapy before and it helped only to a point, an EMDR Intensive can help you go deeper and heal faster. Programs are available virtually across the States of Michigan, Texas, and Illinois, in person in Grand Rapids, Michigan, or at our Muskegon, Michigan retreat home, or in your home in Chicago, Illinois or Houston, Texas. Each setting offers a calm, supportive space for you to slow down, reconnect, and experience real transformation. To learn more about EMDR Intensive Programs visit HERE.
